Spring Service Updates

CAPS Services for Spring 2021 will be provided remotely through telephone and/or Zoom

Due to the COVID 19 national pandemic, CAPS has made adjustments to services based on recommendations from UNC Charlotte and the CDC to support the physical safety of our community.

- Individual and group services are available remotely through a secure video conferencing platform or by phone.

- To honor social distancing, students are asked to call Monday-Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to schedule and access services rather than coming to the CAPS building.  However, the Price Center will be staffed from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning February 22, 2021.

Scheduling an Appointment

To schedule an initial appointment with a counselor, call 704-687-0311 during our business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments are typically scheduled in advance, though we hold a limited number of same-day appointments to meet the needs of students in crisis.

All currently enrolled UNC Charlotte students are eligible for an initial consultation. This is a brief appointment, typically lasting 25-30 minutes, that is focused on assessing needs, addressing any immediate concerns, and providing recommendations for services. 

If you are looking to schedule an initial appointment with a provider who specializes in substance use counseling or are a student athlete looking to schedule with our Sport Psychologist, please let our front desk staff know when you call to schedule so they can ensure you are scheduled with the appropriate provider.

All CAPS services are free of charge. Please let us know if you have accessibility needs.

All outreach programming will be provided virtually.  If interested in requesting a virtual outreach program please complete the Program Request Form.  Due to the high demand on our services, we cannot guarantee availability for weekend or evening requests and ask for a minimum of three weeks for all outreach requests to be considered.  Please contact the outreach coordinator by email at outreach@uncc.edu if you have questions or need additional assistance.

PLEASE NOTE:  At this time, professional licensing laws only allow us to provide telehealth services to students in North Carolina. If you are outside of North Carolina, we can provide a phone consultation to assess for needs and can assist you in identifying and connecting to services in your area.
